10th WRC event for season 2008 is to be rallied in forthcoming weekend at Germany. ADAC Rallye Deutchland is based in the vicinity of Trier, West-Germany. Event its' 10th event of season, its' 2nd tarmac WRC-event. Previously competitors tackled their speed in January at opening round for season 2008 in Monte Carlo. Between January the competitors have rallied only on snow and gravel surfaces.

In ADAC Rallye Deutchland there can be seen Toni Gardemeister with his co-driver Jakke Honkanen returning to WRC after short break. Finns rally with a bit historic Citroen Xsara WRC. In forthcoming three days event Gardemeister tries to improve his season 2007 fourth position finish by gaining podium in this season.

- A year ago we had a tight battle for third position with similar rally car. In pre-rally week monday we had a successful tests as me and my co-driver noticed the developement work the car has gained. It has improved suspension and engine. Tomorrow we start the event with confident minds. I know the difference for top ralyl cars in tarmac is not so big as it is when rallying on gravel surface, Gardemeister reported.

The route includes 19 special stages and 356,27 special stage kilometres. It is divided into three separate sections. In Friday and Sunday the competitors rallies in Mosel winery area and its' narrow and dirty tarmac roads. In Saturday the route circulates a bit faster stages which are located in military training area. Gardemeister thinks tyre issues will be the key for success.

- There are now more stages in area of winery than in previous season. For some reason I feel unfortable in these stages. It'll be hellowa fight for top positions - especially if it rains and my tyre choice goes bad. I strongly believe there are going to be seen lots of surprises due tyre choises, Gardemeister thinks.

- In shakedown we saw what rain can do for the stage. As the shakedown went by, drivers rallied slower times due mud and slippy surface. In dry weather there should be no troubles but if it rains, it all goes lottery. Especially if theres' mud on the tarmac it'll be a tricky rally. Drivers could lose whole rally in one single stage due wrong tyre choise, Gardemeister analyzed.

WRC Germany starts on Friday morning. Finish flag is to be waved at Sunday afternoon.

Lyhyt esittely

Olen toisen sukupolven ralliautoilija.
