Flying Finn rally driver Toni Gardemeister, age of 32 has been rallying as a privateer for selected WRC-events in season 2007. His season finale will happen in the middle of December in Italy at Bologna Motorshow and its' Bettega Memorial rallysprint event with Citroen XSara WRC.
Italian rally driver Attilio Bettega was a famous rally driver in 80'ies. He rallied with Lancia in World Rally Championship. However in Korsika 1985 he went off and hit a tree with sad consequences - injuries were fatal for him. Since 90'ies in Italy there has been a Bettega Memorial event and Toni Gardemeister has participated the event since 1996 with Lancia, Seat, Toyota and Citroen rally cars. In the events there are over 100000 spectators cheering for rally gladiators as they push man-to-man battle in speedy rallysprint event.
- The rallysprint is driven in a large field inside a huge crowd of people. In previous years there has been an excellent atmosphere and I strongly believe this is the case in this year also. I with my fellow rally drivers like Markko Märtin, Francois Duval and Jan Kopecky will make sure of it, told Gardemeister.
- I rally all my starts with same Citroen XSara WRC. As weather is cold and wet it makes conditions very slippery. However I don't mind about it because my goal is to rally for victory and continue good Finnish performance like my fellow countryman has done in this season, Gardemeister continued.
